Appetite for Reduction Book Review

Appetite for Reduction Book Review

Awesome Vegan Cookbook with simple, straightforward instructions for easy weekday or more involved company meals!  The Grand Dame of Vegan Cooking has done it again. This does not seem like a “healthy” cookbook in anyway, there are loads of flavorful, delicious recipes . I have marked over 2/3 of the pages in the book to either make or have already made.

Isa is always full of easy tips and substitutions. There is also nutritional information for each recipe, and all though I don’t always pay super close attention to this, it is a very nice reference.

Some recipes I love; Everyday Chickpea-Quinoa Salad with Balsamic Vinaigrette. Simple, make ahead grain salad that I like to make on a Sunday night and then eat for lunch during the week. Black Beans in Red Velvet Mole. Delish, really love this one, this mole is very straightforward, and delicious, I served mine over quinoa. Buffalo Tempeh, super simple and loaded with flavor, served mine with the Sanctuary Dressing. Bistro Broccoli Chowder, creamy, warm, satisfying, and again super easy.

Some recipes that are on my must make list; OMG Onion Rings, Cranberry-Cashew Biryani, Chickpea Piccata and Potato Spinach Curry. If you are new to being vegan, or just want to expand your vegan repertoire, or have a vegan cookbook addiction like me, put this on your list.

  1. Nice! You’ve been busy since last time I dropped by your blog. I don’t have Appetite for Reduction, but I do have Veganomicon by Isa Chandra and like it a lot. I also enjoy her Post-Punk Kitchen blog. Lots of good stuff!
